Candle Light Press: Dub Trub 3: This Dangerous Game and The Fairer Sex: A Tale Of Shaded And Angels Vol. 2

Take off that winter coat and get ready for some sassy and intellectual releases from the Candle Light Press Spring and Summer Collection for 2006. There is no need to check out Paris or Milan this season, because the best of the best is from Iowa City. John Ira Thomas, Jeremy Smith and Carter Allen have been hard at work to bring you some fantastic graphic novels.

The temperature is rising and perhaps it is due to global warming or maybe it is because Agents Red and Black are together for another mission to save the world in Carter Allen’s Dub Trub 3: This Dangerous Game. Earth is still under the merciless control of the Voyd alien race but our heroes are making strides to rid the planet of the vile oppressors. Dub Trub 3 introduces Agent Blue to the mix and she appears to be the perfect match for both Red and Black. But every up has a down and this time our ladies are put to the test by the Voyd, a traitor and news of a captured comrade.

Spring and summer are all about getting in shape and Carter Allen’s Dub Trub 3 will make you shed that unsightly winter weight due to page after page of cardio-friendly fight sequences. Be sure to stretch before and after reading this release because you will be sore the next morning from dodging knives, bullets and missiles. Perhaps consulting a physician would be the right choice before reading this wonderful work of science fiction.

Artistically, Allen uses visuals that are similar to old school video games and modern animated series like Samurai Jack. Allen’s works are all about mischievous heroines who always win the battle but this time it seems that the Voyd may have scored a major victory against the duo of Red and Black.

Maybe the winter did not provide your brain with an ample supply of intellectual stimulation so John Ira Thomas and Jeremy Smith have the perfect solution with The Fairer Sex: A Tale of Shades and Angels Vol. 2. If a complex world of disturbed female vigilantes, burned out cops and mentally unbalanced super heroes are your cup of tea then sip on this wonderful graphic novel. Did The Madonna grab your attention in the last issue of The Fairer Sex? Well get ready for a Freedom City, TX aftermath where our nocturnal crime fighter The Night Angel works with Johnny the Introducer to uncover the identity The Madonna.

Remember folks, The Fairer Sex Vol. 2 is no Shirley Temple, but it is one stiff shot of whiskey meant for the serious connoisseurs of graphic novels. Be sure to get a good sip of this Candle Light Press whiskey so that you can savor the fine flavors of crime drama and philosophical debate. Do not gulp this whiskey because you will surely miss the aged originality brought forth by Thomas and Smith. Those unfamiliar with this brand may want to first try Numbers: A Tale of Shades and Angels.
