TonyDoug's CD Review: The Capsules, Someone for Everyone by tonydoug wright The Capsules, Someone for Everyone (Urinine Records, 2004) THE BAND: Julie Shields (Guitars, Vocals and Farfisa), Jason Shields (Bass and Loops) and Kevin Trevino (Drums). THE HISTORY: Julie and Kevin Shields are former members of the band Shallow and the driving forces behind The Capsules. Along with drummer Kevin Trevino, this Lawrence, Kansas band has released two albums Reverser (2000) and Someone for Everyone (2004). THE REVIEW: Someone for Everyone is an album with eleven tracks; only one of them is enjoyable. The Capsules open Someone for Everyone with 'Light the Path', a forgettable track that sets the pace for the rest of the album. And the pace is one that is agonizingly slow. The highlight is 'Visual Searching Pattern', a great instrumental track of sorts with some spoken word. Overall, this is a disappointing effort that fails to gain any kind of momentum right from the opening track. WEB SITE: www.thecapsules.net |
