Four Questions for Boo Hewerdine

by anna battista

How did you meet the Scottish band Wild Strawberry?

"I met guitarist Ross Cockburn during a workshop and he asked me to produce their single and later their album. I spent a weekend in the studio with the band working on their material, and I've now become a fan of Wild Strawberry."

Do you prefer producing to actually performing?

"I don't really like producing. I like writing for other people and singing songs I write for other people. For example, it's always a pleasure to perform with Eddi Reader, like I had the pleasure of doing while playing in Glasgow recently."

Any plans for the future?

"I'm busy all the time, but at present I'm working on my next album, Harmonograph, that will be out in January. It features songs I've written for other artists and I'll finish recording it as soon as the tour is over. After that I'll go back to write."

Favourite song on "Harmonograph"?

"All of them, but 'Sing To Me' in particular."
